RESTORED RUINS
Ayutthaya Historical City has 20 restored monasteries, of which the Buddhist clergy use six and has all the structures needed for day-to-day religious operations (Wat Ratcha Praditsathan, Wat Rattanachai, Wat Senasanaram, Wat Suwandararam, Wat Tuek and Wat Prasat).
DEFUNCT TEMPLE SITES
The Ayutthaya Historical City had 70 monastic sites with no traces today as those monasteries were vacated at the fall of Ayutthaya in 1767 CE, reduced to rubble and after that, swallowed up by the continuous urbanisation of the city.
