Vessantara

Vessantara Jataka was a story of Buddha’s past life. Vessantara was the son of King Sanchai, a very generous prince who gave away all his possessions to the needy, thus accumulating enough merit to become enlightened in his next life.

Vihara (P., Skt)
|
A religious edifice with the same rectangular plan as the ubosot but the area not marked out by boundary stones. It houses the principal Buddha image and is traditionally the place where the laity gathers to hear the monks read the scriptures and explain the Doctrine. (Th. Wihan).

Visnu, Vishnu (Skt.)

[Phra Narai (Th.)] : One of the Hindu Trinity, considered to be the Preserver of the world and Protector of human beings. He is usually depicted as a four-armed man holding four attributes : a disc (cakra), a conch, a mace and a lotus (representing the Earth). His mount is the garuda.
