Wat Yai Chai Mongkhon, or the Great Monastery of Auspicious Victory, is located off the city island in the southeast of Ayutthaya, in the Phai Ling Sub-district. To its east side, just over the moat, there were two small temples situated. They are called Ancient Temples No. 1 and 2.
Temple No. 1 was located south of Temple No. 2. From this temple, only a restored bell-shaped chedi remains. The vihara was lost with time. The architectural style of the stupa is from the middle Ayutthaya period (1489-1629 CE) but was restored in the late Ayutthaya era (1629-1767 CE). It is evident that the Fine Arts Department had entirely reconstructed this chedi.
The chedi is classic with a square platform, a round base, a bell-shaped dome, a square harmika and a spire. The colonnade supporting the spire is missing.
The historical data about the monastery and its construction are unknown.
The site is in geographical coordinates: 14° 20' 42.87" N, 100° 35' 40.11" E.
